The municipality of Pacora is part of the Coffee Axis and its history goes back to the Quimbaya indigenous as first settlers of the territory. In 1542 the town of Santiago de Armas was founded and it was moved in 1832, but because of difficulties on the way they founded the town of Arma Nuevo, that later on would be transformed in Pacora. Among the most representative tourist attractions, we find the Piedra de Pipinta located in Alto del Pozo that, according to the stories, was a secret commerce route between the indigenous of the area and the Cerro de Cristo Rey that, according to the lengend, was built to counteract the hex of a renegade priest. The typical dishes that you can taste on the region are the sancocho de una or timbusca, made of meat and diverse spices, the hogao, the frijoles caldenses, the bandeja paisa and diverse types of arepas. The most representative festival of Pacora is the Fiesta del Agua, that is celebrated every 2 years in October, lasts 4 days and includes sports competitions, fireworks, artists presentation, dawn chorus and cultural presentations, among other events. Pacora is an ecologic interesting destination that harbors a great variety of legends that all the travelers should get to know.
