Uramita is a Colombian municipality part of the Antioquia department whose name means clean land. The beginning of the city dates from 1875, when a small village of mining intentions was founded. In 1938 rose as a municipality and took other small towns as Ambalema, Orobajo and Encalichada under its protection, that before that time were under other municipalities protection. The tourist attractions of the city are the Plaza Central, where you can find the Santa Ana church, the Orobajo cave, diverse beaches to relax and waterfalls and natural locations to appreciate the beauty of the surroundings. The gastronomy of the area propose you sweet and salty parvas as a snack, arepas de choclo (a kind of corn bread), posta sudada or sudao (a dish with meat, potato, manioc or carrot) and the huge bandeja paisa, a travel of flavours for your palate. The traveller will enjoy the local festivals as the Fiestas de Santa Ana in July, Fiestas de la Paz y el Progreso in December or the Festival Ecoturistico de Occidente ending June that includes kayak, jet skis and ecologic routes, among other activities.
